Supporting informed approaches to social licence and coexistence
For more than a decade, we have facilitated engagement between the onshore gas industry, landholders and communities.
Coexistence Queensland now supports engagement and information-sharing across Queensland’s resources and energy sectors and the communities and industries they intersect with.
Drawing on direct regional engagement, we provide independent, evidence-informed insights that inform policy and planning, and assist agencies and representatives across all government levels to understand emerging land access, social licence and engagement considerations.
At state and regional levels, Coexistence Queensland facilitates informed discussion and provides practical advice grounded in on-the-ground experience.
Our evidence-informed perspective on state, regional and rural land use and engagement issues informs our independent advice to state and local government.
State government and local councils play important roles when projects are proposed, with councils reflecting local priorities and state government guiding development through policy and regulation.
Coexistence Queensland’s work has included developing submissions informed by regional engagement activities, providing advice on public liability insurance, and commissioning independent research to capture lessons from Queensland’s coal seam gas experience.
Together, these activities strengthen government understanding of emerging coexistence issues across Queensland.
Public forums that bring together communities, industry, and government to share reliable information and talk openly about energy projects.
Events that bring together regional and statewide leaders to explore coexistence opportunities, address challenges, and agree on practical next steps.
